Staff Bios

Katherine Dietzen-Najjar | Owner/President and CEO of HealthmattersCME

Katherine Dietzen-Najjar

Katherine has been in medical education for her entire career which began in 1987. Since 2006, she has been President and CEO of HealthmattersCME. Prior to that Katherine’s experience includes three years with AM Medica Communications Group where she was the Chief Operating Officer of the organization. Before that, Katherine was with NCM Publishers for nine years where she was Executive Vice President during the last several years and supervised the Eli Lilly and Company account among others. Prior to that, Katherine was Senior Program Director at NCM and implemented a large number of medical education programs (both CME and promotional) and reported directly into the two owners.

Katherine has experience in several therapeutic areas such as CNS (depression and schizophrenia), women’s health, infectious disease, cardiology, and osteoporosis. She has extensive experience implementing symposia, spin-offs, and publications for several Global and Domestic Neuroscience and Osteoporosis Teams at Eli Lilly and Company. Also, in Katherine’s career she has created and implemented hundreds of CME activities in both the US and Europe in collaboration with various medical universities and institutions.

Katherine has a BA in Business Administration from Stephens College and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. She recently completed 10 years of service as a member of the Board of Trustees at Stephens College. Her hobbies include taking care of her four children, tennis, and water skiing.

Joanne Jablonski | Executive Vice President, Managing Director

Joanne Jablonski

Joanne began her career in medical advertising and health care communications over 30 years ago. Joining the staff of Rolf Werner Rosenthal, Inc. during its’ initial years, she remained with the agency as it grew to become a leading force in medical advertising, prior to its sale to Ogilvy & Mather, and subsequent purchase by Nelson Communications. Her experience there provided a strong background in operations, including traffic, media and account services.

Joanne joined World Health Communications, a division of Rolf Werner Rosenthal, Inc., in 1981 and developed and managed educational programs in the areas of HIV, neurology, infectious diseases, asthma/allergy and smoking cessation. She supervised a staff of over 20 persons and successfully completed numerous programs in various media.

She joined HealthmattersCME in January of 2001 and is responsible for the management of independent medical education programming.

 

Karen Wirth | Vice President of Strategic Development

 

Karen’s primary focus is to expand and broaden our business in the area of medical communications and medical education, specifically CME programming. Karen regularly consults with our CME Council and medical advisors and, with their expert input, oversees the development of programming.

Prior to joining Healthmatters in 2001, Karen was at GSK (formerly Glaxo and GlaxoWellcome) for over 13 years. After 5 years in Sales, Karen moved to marketing and took on positions of increasing responsibilities where she oversaw a broad range of market development functions including New Products Development, Discovery and Market Expansion.

Karen received her BS in Pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy in 1988 and her Masters in Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1996.

 

Gail Rosen | Vice President, Director of CME

Gail Rosen

Gail has been in the medical education industry for over 13 years. Prior to joining HealthmattersCME in October, 2007, she was Director of CME at Rogers Medical Intelligence Solutions, an ACCME accredited provider for Continuing Medical Education. Gail was instrumental in the initial process of Rogers becoming accredited by the ACCME. Prior to Rogers, she was a Senior Account Executive at Current Medical Directions. Gail began her career in medical education at NCM publishers where she was promoted to Senior Project Director after having held positions as Project Coordinator and Project Director. She has worked on projects in a variety of therapeutic areas including: disorders of the central nervous system (schizophrenia, depression, sleep disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and anxiety), oncology, infectious diseases, and cardiology. Gail holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Therapy from Hofstra University.

 

Jim Murphy | Scientific Director

Most recently, Jim has been developing and implementing live and enduring CME programs for a variety of audiences in a variety of media in such therapeutic areas as HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis (HBV/HCV), anticoagulant therapy, and respiratory medicine.

With over 30 years experience in continuing medical education, prior to his position at HealthmattersCME, Jim has served as Director of Content Development and Editorial Services at ContinuingEdge, Inc. (NYC), VP, Director of Content Development and Editorial Services at Science and Medicine (NYC), Discovery East (Stamford, CT), and ProHealth.(NYC). Prior to that Jim served as VP, Creative Director at Carlson Healthcare, Audio Visual Medical Marketing (NYC), and Health Learning Systems (Little Falls, NJ). In each of these positions, Jim has been responsible for program research, content design and development, and writing and creative Programs include a variety of multi-media learning systems and university-associated CME programs.

Jim has extensive experience in a variety of therapeutic areas. Previous experience includes designing and developing audience specific programs in pain management, urology, women’s health, rheumatology, cardiology, gynecology, and pediatrics. Jim is also experience in designing programs for a variety of live or archived applications in a host of media applications (print, video, CBT, web-based programs, podcasts, audio/slide programs) and combinations of media.

Jim is a recipient of a BA degree in Psychology/English Literature at the University of Windsor, Windsor, ON, and an MA degree in Media Studies at New York University, New York, NY.
